The July26 Coalition of Boston, Brookline PAX, and MAPA organized this special program at the Coolidge Corner Library in support of US-Cuba solidarity preceded by a StandOut at Coolidge Corner. Panelists Nalda Vigezzi (moderator), Cole Harrison, Diane Stradling, and Sussen Gazal joined host Peter Miller. Carol Piñeiro provided highlights about the Brookline-Quezalguaque Sister City Project. Deputy Chief of the Cuban Embassy in Washington DC Alejandro García del Toro offered a special message of appreciation for this meeting and the work of the National Network on Cuba and its upcoming annual conference in Boston that the day’s events were promoting.

The July26 Boston-Cuba Solidarity Coalition is committed to working to end the aggressive policies of the United States toward Cuba as well as toward other Caribbean and Latin countries. They support the struggles of popular movements of the poor, working, and indigenous peoples of the Americas to obtain peace; economic, political, and social justice; and an end to environmental destruction.

Since 1962, PAX has been Brookline’s progressive voice for peace, justice, civil rights and civil liberties. They work for well-funded public schools that teach the whole child, respect for our dedicated public employees, and empowerment for our teachers, parents, students, and the community in our public schools.

Massachusetts Peace Action (MAPA) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization working to develop the sustained political power to foster a more just and peaceful U.S. foreign policy. Through grassroots organizing, policy advocacy, and community education, they promote human rights and global cooperation, seek an end to war and the spread of nuclear weapons, and support budget priorities that re-direct excessive military spending to meeting human and environmental needs in our communities.
