TV on TV – Tommy Vitolo Interviews Miriam Aschkenasy
Tommy Vitolo kicks of School Committee candidate interviews with Miriam Aschkenasy who, in his words, has been talking about equity since before it was cool. Miriam points out how remote learning, social media, hate crime, and hate speech have affected Brookline’s students, and the responsibility that parents and the school system have to pivot and meet kids where they are. She explains how data-backed curriculum changes, listening to families and teachers with real experience, and updating policy are some ways to support students. Miriam and Tommy discuss School Within a School, ACE, Steps to Success, and the possibility of making and supporting more programs like these.
